Hello. We are Malcolm and Catherine and offer you peace of mind while you are away from home.
We are a professional expat couple returning to our home-base Sydney in August. We are locals and trustworthy, so your stuff won’t end up on Gumtree! Malcolm is a retired lawyer and Catherine a security cleared executive public servant. Our adult children are no longer at home and our beautiful house is now too big for us. Rather than add to the housing crisis, we hope to keep our belongings in storage, keep our house rented to a family and enjoy the freedom of house sitting in Sydney for a year or more. Sadly, it will not be with our old boy Thunder the Whippet who left us after 16 years of being a loved family member. So, we are truly ‘empty nesters’ and we are happy to look after your nest for you.

We are non-smokers, active, clean, house proud and neighbourly. We are happy to give you details of our neighbours to provide references. While we are new to formal house sitting, we have looked after many friends and relative’s places and have owned a house in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs for 30 years. We are keen gardeners and know how to care for outdoor and indoor plants and can even wrangle the worms in your worm farm. Malcolm is an adept handyman (and knows his way around a Bunnings store) and volunteer member of the SES (Randwick), so your house, garden and pool will be as you left it, if not, better! We will keep your letter box secure and free of junk mail. Knowing Sydney too well, we are very security conscious and will never leave your home unsecured. Malcolm is a classic car enthusiast, we can keep your car washed, running and even register it for you if needed. We have access to our own vehicle and will not need to use your vehicle.

We love having animals as part of daily life and will be around full time to give them the love and attention they deserve. Over the years we have kept dogs, cats, fish, birds in our house. We are experienced and responsible dog walkers and will never risk the safety of your dog.

We are available from 6 August 2024 EXCEPT for the following periods (inclusive):

23 December - 1 January 2025
