More information about this house sitter

A brother and sister, who are vets. A love of pets has always been a part of my life and my siblings. Sure to have come from our upbringing. A good house sitter needs to have more than a love of animals, though. You need to be very comfortable with me, while you are away. I am a caring, responsible person, with empathy for you, the homeowner. (I am more than grateful, if invited to house sit and look after your pets - of course, there is no payment involved). It is hard to enjoy time away, if you have any concerns at all. You need to be away confident and content that your pets and home, are in the hands of a good person - a person like yourself really. It would be good for frequent video talks (with pets), while you are away. Gardens are important, also, when you are away. Have been a past member of the Aust Palm Society and orchid grower, so lots of experience with plants. I am a non-smoker. Cleanliness is a priority to any homeowner - and I understand that fully. I assure you, that upon your return, your home will be perfectively clean, neat and tidy, as when you left. (VERY IMPORTANT to you). I would always make a point of arriving at least one day early, prior to your scheduled departure, should you require me as a house sitter - I will find my own accommodation for that night - but this allows us to talk, walk the dog(s), check out the local dog park, feeding - learn the special ways of the cats and your other animals. I can get to know exactly what you require of myself, prior to your departure. I want to make every effort to ensure, everything goes smoothly with your pets and house while you are away. You can't enjoy your holiday, unless you have trust in me. Well and truly, prior to your departure, you will form an opinion of the person, I am. It is hoped this profile, our communication and likely face to face meeting, beforehand - means in your mind, you have full faith and trust in me. Of course, If you need to return to your home earlier than planned, than I totally understand. Things can go wrong on your time away. Should something happen, then I can immediately vacate, for you to return home. I appreciate situations can arise in people's lives, so be comfortable to return early, if need be. I prefer to sleep in a second bedroom, (door to main bedroom would stay closed) but a nice thing - sometimes even bigger dogs, jump up into their loving owner's bed. Absolutely 100% fine, with me, if that happens at your place.....can continue, while you are away. Homeowners love pets - and so do I.

A you tube video was produced by aged care, community group,FEROS CARE at Coolangatta. I was a volunteer with Feros at the time. You may wish to view the video, which features myself (and another volunteer). Type into YOU TUBE "a day in the life of a volunteer"

HOUSE SITTING EXPERIENCE
Only 2 residential addresses in my adult life. I am on my own, in my role as a house sitter. My decision to undertake this house sitting role, is love of pets. Member of Lions Tweed Heads, Gold Coast, volunteer of the year award nominee with Feros Community Care, Coolangatta. All this information, may help to support my wish to be a long-term house sitter. As is usual, it is no problem at all, for me to visit you (and your pets), prior to you deciding on a house sitter. I would look forward to that - easy and low-key talk. One thing, I would absolutely emphasize - is the first few days in particular, after you have left for your break ....that is the time pet can stress most. Every pet is different, but soon after your departure can be a difficult time. Just being aware and showing that extra care and attention, early on - matters so much. I think it is very important to note special advice from the home owner, as it relates to their pet. Often homeowners mention local attractions near their home - but for myself, NO leaving home for long periods during the day - my priority then and for the full period of you being away, is your pet(s). Why ? - because I love pets anyway and I want to be there to care for them and enjoy them being around with me, while you are away. Me being home - is the best way to provide what your pet needs, to avoid missing you. Taking your pet out in my car to different locations for a walk, or even a swim, would be great also - but something we can discuss more fully.

DOGS
As mentioned, I have a brother and sister who were both vets. Love of pets was part of our family growing up and I am sure, why my brother and sister trained as vets. Owned many dogs and cats, before unit living, very much restricted ownership. Love of pets is something that is never lost though, I think in a good person. I expect we can WhatsApp, (communicate) every day, or however often you wish - while you are away, if you want. The frequency of brushing, bath, toenails is best to come from you the owner, but will be undertaken exactly as you require. Communication is the key to success in housesitting, in a broad range of areas. Your pets and your house are just so important to you - and to me also, while I am staying at your place. I feel obligation, responsibility - and have a huge drive & desire that everything goes extremely well while you are away.

CATS
Owned a number of cats, although a slinky Burmese Cat maybe my favorite. She was all style. Princess of the household, at the time....that was for sure. I think it is important for the house sitter, to be very aware, that in the initial period - when you first leave home, for your holiday or break.... your pet may be anxious and unsettled. I will absolutely NOT be away from home, rather my role is to ensure your pet is given the necessary attention - and try to ensure as best as possible, pet settles in with the new person in the house. A house sitter definitely cannot be out and about, while your pet is unsettled, at home missing you. I would say the whole reason for my house sitting roles - is the pets anyway, not touring around the district, for what really is, likely to be a relative short few weeks at your place. So just to reiterate - extra, extra special attention in those first few days, while you are away, goes without saying.

...... Just a mid October update - probably worth noting on my profile. I have offered to all home owners - transport in my car, to and from the airport, as they commence time away from home. The offer has been taken up by 3 homeowners, thus far. Of course, that offer is extended to you also. Something less to worry about, as you embark on hopefully, a great time away.
