More information about this house sitter

Our four children have finally flown the nest, we've semi-retired, and look forward to exploring as much of Australia as possible.

Originally from South Africa we relocated to Australia in 2006.  Pets, especially cats and dogs, were always much loved members of our family.

We've been house sitting since December 2015. Whether it's a small apartment in the city to distant rural properties we've loved caring for a wide variety of homes and pets. Winning the trust of skittish cats, going on long walks with exuberant dogs or feeding wild birds have all been wonderful experiences.

In the past we've relied on others to take care of our beloved pets and home while we've been on trips. Our time away was always more enjoyable when a reliable and caring sitter was on hand to take care of our pets and property. Now that we're sitters ourselves we aim to provide the same reassurance for home owners.

Alan is the ultimate handyman, an expert at maintaining swimming pools and keeping a property ship shape. Glynis has a passion for gardening and has established many gardens from scratch.

For six years after moving to Canberra, Glynis, a teacher by profession, worked as a communications/client liaison officer for the ACT Government. Other than that we've been self-employed  for several decades, and most recently owned a small scale soap manufacturing business. We're resourceful, responsible, honest and dependable, with many references available to those who'd like more information.

During an 18 month trip to South Africa in 2014/5 we worked at raising awareness and fundraising for two animal welfare organisations, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Funda Nenja. We have experience in trapping, taming and re-homing of feral kittens and Glynis was a volunteer dog walker for two years at Northside Community Services in Canberra. She walked a wide variety of dogs for people, who for one reason or another, were unable to walk their own dogs.

We've been delighted when homeowners have asked us back to do repeat sits and have made some wonderful friends, (furry and non-furry!), along the way.

Looking after other people's homes and beloved pets is a very special privilege. We take great pride in being competent and responsible house sitters, and most of all, providing your pets with the best possible care, attention and affection in your absence.
