More information about this house sitter

Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m an experienced live-in house-sitter/pet-sitter available in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Whether you have pets or not, whether you live in a house, apartment or caravan, I’d love to look after your home (and pets if applicable) while you’re away.

I have a National Police Clearance and references.

I’m an introvert, quiet and not into partying. I don’t smoke, take drugs or consume alcohol. I am clean, tidy and responsible.

I would be home most of the time.

I am a massive cat and dog lover, but I love all animals and am open to pet-sitting all animals.

I grew up with animal companions who were always members of the family. If I was pet-sitting for you, I’d treat your animal companions as my own.

I believe in positive reinforcement only. I never use negative reinforcement or punishment.

As a pet-sitter, I will send you lots of photo/video updates of your pets, and I can video call with you too so you can see your beloved animal companion/s.

I’m a solo house-sitter. I won’t be bringing any people or animals to your home.

I do volunteer work for an animal protection charity.

I’m vegan, but I’m happy to feed your pets their usual food, including meat.

I’m in my late 20’s. I’m house-sitting full-time while I save for my first home.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, walking, watching movies/TV shows and writing.

I would love to go for walkies with your dog, change your cat’s litter box, play with your pets, feed them, keep their water bowl clean and full, and give them attention and pats. I love getting cuddles and kisses from animals (on their terms of course).

I can also trim your dog/cat’s nails (if they cooperate).

As I’ve grown up with pets, I am comfortable cleaning up potty accidents and vomiting. It’s just part of looking after a pet.

I’m also happy to water your plants, do gardening, bring in your mail, pass on home phone messages and other tasks you might need while you’re away.

If you are interested in discussing house/pet-sitting, please message me. I have listed some questions below. You don’t have to answer all of them, but the more details you give, the better.

(Even if we don’t choose each other, these things are good to think about for whoever ends up being your pet-sitter).

.
.
.

*Basics:
-Your suburb
-The length of the sit (and whether it’s approx or locked in, and if there’s any flexibility or not)
-The dates of the sit (and whether it’s approx or locked in, and if there’s any flexibility or not).

.
.
.

*Details of pets (if any):
-Number of pets
-Species e.g. dog/cat/fish,
-Name/s, gender/s, age/s
-Feeding instructions?
-Do your pet/s have health conditions?
-Do your pet/s take medication?
-Do they like lots of attention, pats, cuddles and playtime? Or prefer independence? Or somewhere in between?
-Do they bite/scratch? (Not a deal breaker, just good to know!)

.
.
.

*For cats:
-Are they a 100% indoor cat?
-Do I need to let them outside at all to roam the neighbourhood?
-Are they litter box trained?

.
.
.

*For dogs:
-Which breed? (Bitsa is great too!)
-Are any walks needed? If so, how many a day?
-Do you have a doggy door and fenced backyard? So they can go potty while I'm out if they need to?
-If I go out, should I leave them inside or outside?
-Are they trained to go potty inside in a specific spot, like a grass patch or litter box?

.
.
.

*Specifics:
-Will I have the whole house to myself and your pets or will there be any other humans there too?
-Do you have any rules on whether I can go out during the day or night?
-I am home most of the time, but occasionally I might want to go out for a longer time. What's the maximum amount of time your pets can be left home alone for?

-Are there any security cameras inside? What about outside?

-Would there be somewhere I can park my car? (I don’t have a car yet, but I’m considering buying one)
-How close are you to public transport?
-How close are you to shops?
