About this house sitting position in Richmond
Rare opportunity to sit for experienced owners with well trained pets and beautiful home in the inner city suburb of Richmond. We are readvertising as our sitter needed to cancel due to an unexpected change in their personal circumstances. We need someone who can look after our pets whilst we return home for Christmas to visit family. Working in the healthcare industry, leave over the Christmas period only comes by every so often and we desparately need to return this year as my mother has lost her father recently and needs support over the holidays. If you think you can help, we'd love to hear from you so please reach out.
We have a two storey converted warehouse townhouse with a sunny courtyard, in the quiet backstreets of Richmond just a stones throw from the bustling Bridge Rd and Swan St. The townhouse has all the creature comforts you need with A/C systems throughout, dishwasher, 4K 65" TV (we'll even leave our streaming accounts signed in for your stay!), NBN internet, a king-sized bed, coffee machine and an outdoor lounge/dining in the courtyard with sun umbrella and four burner BBQ. Your car will be safe and secure with off street parking accessible via remote control the courtyard - please note the bigger your car the less outdoor space you'll have and there is no cover.
There is a tram stop less than 500m away in either direction (one on Bridge Rd and the other on swan street) with two tram lines running through each. The closest train station (Burnley) is 800m away (close enough to walk but far enough you don't hear anything) with 3 train lines running through it - Richmond train station is one stop away where you can change for up to 8 train lines running through it.
Being in between Bridge Rd and Swan St, there is plenty of restaurants and bars right around the corner. We prefer the Bridge Rd end as there are a few breweries up that way if that interests you! The famous Chapel St strip is just a quick uber trip away if you are looking for a shopping spree. There's plenty of restaurants and bars along here too! If there's nothing that interests you here though, you can jump on any of the nearby tram/trains and explore the CBD. There's also easy access to the Monash Freeway if you fancy a trip to Chadstone shopping centre - please note there is one toll point on the nearest access point.
There is also a beautiful big park 800m away (Burnley Park) that we love to take our dog. There's a few picnic tables there as well as a basketball court and plenty of open space. There's also a walking trail that you can go along that connects you to the Yarra River.
As for what we need and when we need it, we are heading the morning of 22nd December and will be arriving back on the afternoon/evening of 30th December. There is very minimal home maintenance needed, just the general tidying from day to day living. We have a 3 year old English Staffy who is full of beans but also has undertaken 2 courses of obedience training. He loves to play and needs 2x 30 minute walks per day (or a solid play of tug of war and fetch) to burn off some energy. He tends to be quite timid with strangers when we're not there but loves a play or a snuggle once he gets to know you. He is house trained and there is a toilet patch in the rear courtyard with a poo bin for anything he doesn't get out on his walks. He also gets fed twice per day and has an antihistamine of a morning. He's very easy to medicate as he opens his mouth on command.
We also have a 18 month old burmese cat who loves a snuggle and a play. He is a bit unsure around strangers but his curiosity gets the better of him and he will be snuggling with you in no time. He's very low maintenance, gets fed once per day and just needs his kitty litter changed once per week.
We also have a fish tank that needs twice daily feeding. Other than that it's pretty low maintenance as it has been fully cycled so is more of an art piece then a job these days. The lights are set to a schedule and so change colour with the sunrise and sunset before settling into to blue moonlight of an evening and turning off automatically overnight.
That's probably enough from me! If the job interests you, please send through your details and we can organise a virtual meet time :) Read more...
