More information about this house sitter

Hi there...
from three lovers of all creatures furry, feathery & scaley 🐶🐱🐰🐸🐔🐠🦜🐢looking to spend Christmas 2023 in fabulous Australia.

We were very lucky to be there for 12 months, Apr ‘19 - Apr ‘20. What an amazing experience & lifelong dream fulfilled. Our date for returning to the UK was just a few days into the first Covid lockdown & we got back ok. Mixed feelings about that fact!

We are wife Moira, husband Keith & twelve year old son, Luca. We are living in north Wales, in a house we built a couple of years ago. We moved in on our return from Oz.

Keith is a Plant Manager &, together with our son-in-law we've renovated a couple of houses & built the one we currently call home. I'm very much chief painter & decorator, I love interior decorating & upcycling furniture.

We are keen runners/walkers, there are some fabulous walks here in Wales & it’s lovely to get out each day with our dog, Eve. We are big animal lovers, our son has been around them since he was born so is very comfortable & natural with them, but dogs have a particular hold over me.

We met some wonderful people in Australia, particularly families we met through mindahome, & looked after lots of lovely pets. House/pet sitting really was the icing on the cake of a fantastic year. It wasn’t something I’d been aware of before I got talking to someone while I was out walking one morning, & she told me about it. What a fabulous concept. We looked after dogs, cats, chickens, & during a sit at a wildlife refuge in WA, kangaroos, emus & birds of prey. The refuge was our last sit before we returned to the UK & was arranged very last minute, what a way to end our year. Hand-feeding orphaned kangaroos...AMAZING ❤️

We've always had at least two dogs at home, a younger one (energetic) & an older one (used to be energetic). They have always had the run of the house, furniture, beds etc, Everywhere we go they go with us (including to our house in France for many lovely holidays as they have their passports). A bit more complicated after Brexit but still doable.

All of our dogs over the years have been from rescue centres so we are very used to the challenges that can bring, although we've never had any problems with any of them, certainly nothing more than a little bit of counter surfing in the early days of them being in a new home. Given that a lot of them were strays & starving that's hardly surprising behaviour...nothing that lots of play, cuddles & kindness can’t overcome though.

We homeschooled Luca while in Australia - who of us knew how useful that would be for our return to the UK - but he attended a primary school in Perth for a few weeks which was a fantastic & memorable experience for him, for us also. He's a very bright & creative boy, enjoying drama 🎭 piano 🎹 drumming & swimming 🏊‍♂️ Oh, & he loves trains, lots & lots of trains 🚂

Thanks to an animal club he attends during school break times we now have experience looking after a python & a bearded dragon. We’ve had them staying with us for the the last couple of school holidays, Luca is particularly keen & capable with feeding, handling etc. Never thought I’d be up for cuddling a snake, who knew???

We’re looking for a position over Christmas 2023, roughly from 16/17 Dec - 2/3 Jan ‘24. There’s a bit of wiggle room with the dates though.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions.
Thanks for reading 🙂
