More information about this house sitter

Hello!

My name is Bridget, and I am a Canadian that fell for one of those Aussie blokes! Isaac (my partner) and I have been living on Elcho Island, a Yolŋu community 550km east of Darwin for the past four years. Isaac works for the Department of Education and Northern Land Council running "Learning On Country" trips, and I work for Red Cross managing a "Baby Hub".

We've got two camp dogs, and ten ducks, but we will be adding a new member to our brood come early November. As such, we are looking for a place to call home for a few months over the wet season while we climatize to being first time parents.

We have grown up with dogs and chickens, and have worked on farms with horses, goats, cows, ducks, and donkeys! I fancy myself a little bit of a chicken whisperer (Isaac refers to me as a crazy chicken lady..) and we both dream of having our own small homestead one day. We provide wild (bird, wallaby) /domestic (dog) animal care here on the island, as we only have access to a vet for a few weeks every year.

We go on bush walks with the dogs daily, and try to get out camping as much as we can. We are definitely happiest with the basics, out in the bush. Our ideal weekend routine is to spend the morning with tea, newspapers and a tasty breakfast, before heading out to the beach/bush for the afternoon (Ideally with a dog, or 3- in tow!). On occasion we go to see live music or a theatre show in the evening, but for the most part, we enjoy staying home and cooking a nice meal on weekends. In the past we have lived rurally, so weekends included a lot of the constant upkeep that farms require!

If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to get in touch!

I would also be happy to provide references.

All the best,

Bridget
